Elokuva on yhteiskunnallinen dokumentti, jossa ohjaaja Liimatainen ryhtyy etsimään kurssitovereitaan, jotka osallistuivat vuonna 1988 DDR:ssä järjestetylle, vuoden kestävälle marxismi-leninismi -kurssille. Liimatainen halusi kysyä entisiltä kurssitovereiltaan sitä, kuinka he suhtautuvat nykyisin maailmaan ja ovatko heidän unelmansa muuttuneet kurssiaikojen jälkeen.
