In a small Eastern European village before World War I, a painter with a past as a forger is hired by a brothel owner to create a large erotic painting. He finds two young women to serve as models, and through their work in this libertine environment they begin to explore their sexuality and break free from their repressive families and society.

What happens

Picture of Beauty è un film del 2017 co-sceneggiato e diretto da Maxim Ford. In un piccolo villaggio dell'Europa orientale degli anni del Novecento che precedono la prima guerra mondiale, Frenek, un talentuoso pittore con un passato da ex falsario, riceve una commissione particolare (un grande quadro erotico richiesto dalla tenutaria di un bordello e da appendere alle pareti del locale per eccitare gli avventori), per la quale trova come modelle due giovani donne, Stephanie e Julia. Queste, grazie all'ambiente libertino nel quale vengono catapultate, riescono gradualmente a esplorare la loro sessualità e a emanciparsi in un contesto di una società, e di due famiglie, fortemente repressive.
