What happens
Faust: A Return from the Future est un long métrage indépendant expérimental sorti en 2018, écrit, réalisé et produit par la cinéaste grecque Maria Alexea. Le film, conçu comme un docu-fantasy, s’inspire librement du Faust de Johann Wolfgang von Goethe — en particulier de Faust II — ainsi que de la tragédie et de la philosophie grecques anciennes. Il transpose cette matière dans une réalisation poétique structurée comme un miroir de la réalité contemporaine et explore des thématiques liées à la création, à l’éthique de l’image, à la corruption du sens et à l'expérience de mort imminente (EMI). Il combine cinéma narratif, musique, danse et symbolisme visuel. Le film a été sélectionné et récompensé au Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2020, où il a été présenté comme film de clôture du festival et y a remporté le Yellow Rose Award dans la catégorie « Upcoming Film (World Premiere) ».
