The Heiresses (Spanish: Las herederas) is a 2018 drama film written and directed by Marcelo Martinessi. Set in contemporary Asunción, Paraguay, it tells the story of two women who have lived together for 30 years in an inherited house but are running out of money. When one is imprisoned for attempted fraud, the other has to readjust her life. The film is a co-production of Paraguay, Uruguay, Germany, Brazil, Norway and France. It was selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival, where lead actress Ana Brun won the Silver Bear for Best Actress and Martinessi won the Alfred Bauer Prize.
