Der Film begleitet den Meeresbiologen, Taucher und Unterwasserfotografen Laurent Ballesta und sein Team bei einer Expedition zum Fakarava-Atoll in Französisch-Polynesien. Im Mittelpunkt stehen eine außergewöhnlich große Ansammlung Grauer Riffhaie im südlichen Pass des Atolls und die Frage, wie die Tiere dort nachts jagen.
