Spies in Disguise is a 2019 American animated spy comedy film starring Will Smith and Tom Holland. Produced by 20th Century Fox Animation, Blue Sky Studios, and Chernin Entertainment for 20th Century Fox, the film was directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno. The film also stars Rashida Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Reba McEntire, Rachel Brosnahan, Karen Gillan, DJ Khaled, and Masi Oka. In the film, the plot involves a secret agent (Smith) who befriends an intelligent young scientist (Holland); the two must then work together to stop a revenge-seeking cybernetic terrorist. The film premiered at the El Capitan Theatre on December 4, 2019, and was theatrically released in the United States on December 25 by 20th Century Fox. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, and grossed a total box office of $172 million against a total budget of $100 million.
