The 3D catalogue: film cases on wooden shelves, with the cat sitting at the counter next to its greeting.

The catalogue in 3D

The film shelves have a room of their own that you can walk around in. The cat behind the counter is the AI Catbot, and they pick real films from the same catalogue when you tell them what you feel like watching. Nothing is for sale, here or in there. Go in from here and this film is already out on the counter, with more like it waiting on the shelf next to it.

What happens

We Met in Virtual Reality is a 2022 documentary film that takes place entirely within the social virtual reality platform VRChat. It explores the social relations developed by the users of VRChat during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how their lives were changed by their time on the platform. It was created by Joe Hunting, who was the director and writer of the script. We Met premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival on 21 January 2022, and was added to HBO Max on 27 July. It has received critical acclaim from film critics, especially regarding emotional scenes. Reviews from technology and gaming outlets were mixed, largely because virtual reality itself is not explained, and because of continuous VRChat graphical glitches. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
