How it feels

In a working-class neighborhood of Douala, a single mother named Pierrette runs a small tailoring shop from her home. She sews clothes for customers while listening to their personal troubles, all while struggling to prepare for her own children's school year. The film follows her daily efforts to balance work, family obligations, and the constant threat of flooding that damages her house and workshop.

What happens

Mambar Pierrette est un film belgo-camerounais réalisé par Rosine Mbakam et sorti en . À Douala, Pierrette travaille comme couturière dans son atelier de quartier. Mère célibataire, elle élève seule ses trois enfants et s'occupe également de sa mère âgée. A l'approche de la rentrée scolaire, les clientes affluent dans son atelier pour faire confectionner les vêtements des enfants et des cérémonies. Pierrette joue le rôle de confidente auprès de ses clientes qui lui confient leurs problèmes. Elle vit au jour le jour avec des moyens limités, confrontée aux difficultés du quotidien : des pickpockets, et surtout les pluies torrentielles qui inondent régulièrement sa maison et son atelier. Malgré ces difficultés et ses longues journées de travail, Pierrette n'a encore rien pu acheter pour la rentrée de ses propres enfants.
