What happens
The Old Oak is a 2023 drama film directed by Ken Loach and written by Paul Laverty. It follows TJ (Dave Turner) the owner of a small pub who forms a bond with Syrian refugee Yara (Ebla Mari). It is a co-production between the United Kingdom, France and Belgium. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival on 26 May, where it competed for the Palme d'Or.
