What happens

Sons of the Neon Night is a 2025 Hong Kong crime thriller film directed, written, and co-produced by Juno Mak. It stars an ensemble cast led by Takeshi Kaneshiro, Sean Lau, Tony Leung Ka-fai, Louis Koo, and Gao Yuanyuan. Production began in June 2017, and wrapped up in March 2018. It was originally set for release in 2019, but post-production was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, resuming only once the pandemic ended. The film had its world premiere at the Midnight Screenings section of the 78th Cannes Film Festival on 17 May 2025. It was theatrically released in Hong Kong on 1 October 2025.
