Фильм основан на интервью с советскими кинематографистками: режиссёрами Ланой Гогоберидзе (Грузия) и Кирой Муратовой (Украина), российскими актрисами Инной Чуриковой, Нонной Мордюковой, сценаристкой Натальей Рязанцевой и кинокритиком Майей Туровской.
