How it feels
Becky Sharp, a clever and ambitious young woman from a poor background, rises through English society in the early 1800s. The story follows her schemes and struggles alongside the lives of her more fortunate friend Amelia Sedley. It is a wry look at social climbing and the costs of ambition.
