Die alleinerziehende Sylvia Brant sucht nach dem Tod ihres Lebensgefährten Ablenkung in ihrer Tätigkeit als Gerichtsreporterin. Unterstützung und Hilfe erfährt sie bei ihrer Arbeit von ihrem Rechtsanwaltkollegen Thomas Rönnfeld. Gemeinsam mit ihrer Tochter Katrin lebt Brant bei dem Vater ihres verstorbenen Lebensgefährten.
