How it feels

In 1970s China, a young female factory worker named Lu Xiaoqing is an exemplary employee at a remote telecommunications factory. She falls in love with a coworker but faces opposition from his mother, leading to heartbreak and a new life with another man. When the national college entrance exam is reinstated, she and some colleagues choose to pursue higher education and personal growth, while the factory itself goes through periods of success and decline.
