How it feels

During World War II, zookeepers at Ueno Zoo are forced to kill most of the animals. Three elephants survive the injections but eventually starve. After the war, children ask for a new elephant, so the zoo brings in a young elephant named Hanako from Thailand. She becomes a beloved star at Ueno Zoo but is later moved to a different zoo where she lives alone and grows hostile. Her former caretaker finds her suffering and works to help her recover.
