పత్ని సినిమా తమిళ గాథ అయిన శిలప్పదికారం ఆధారం చేసుకొని సారథీ పతాకం క్రింద తీసిన చారిత్రక సినిమా. పూంపుహార్లో జరిగిన కోవలన్ - కణ్ణగి కథను గూడవల్లి రామబ్రహ్మం అపూర్వమైన కళాఖండంగా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. ఈ చిత్రంలోని ప్రతి సన్నివేశం ఒక అపురూప చిత్రం అని విమర్శకులు కొనియాడారు. కళా దర్శకుడు వాలి చిత్రకళా నైపుణ్యం దానిని వన్నె తెచ్చింది. గూడవల్లి రామబ్రహ్మం దర్శకత్వంలో సారధి స్టూడియోస్ పతాకంపై నిర్మించిన ఈ చిత్రంలో సురభి కమలాబాయి, ఋష్యేంద్రమణి కొచ్చర్ల్లకోట సత్యనారాయణ నటించిన ఈ చిత్రానికి సంగీతం కొప్పరపు సుబ్బారావు అందించారు.
