What happens

Sylvi on Toivo Särkän ohjaama elokuva vuodelta 1944. Se perustuu Minna Canthin näytelmään Sylvi (1893). Tarina on kolmiodraama, jossa holhooja, ikääntynyt asessori (Edvin Laine) taivuttaa holhottinsa, orpotyttö Sylviin (Helena Kara) vaimokseen. Sylvi kuitenkin rakastaa komeaa ylioppilasta Viktoria (Leif Wager). Särkkä teki elokuvan Minna Canthin satavuotissyntymäpäivän kunniaksi. Alkujaan näytelmä oli ruotsinkielinen, mihin syynä olivat Canthin ja Suomalaisen teatterin erimielisyydet. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
