Lapsitähti Veli-Matti esittää kaupunkiin karkuteille lähtevää poikaa, joka tutustuu veitsenteroittajaksi ryhtyneeseen taiteilijaan. Äiti löytyy tällä matkalla, kun avuksi tulee kasvattitätiään paennut itkevä tyttö. Elokuvaa on luonnehdittu paatokselliseksi alkoholin kiroista varoittelevaksi saarnaksi.
