Elokuva on tyyliltään neorealistinen ja se tehtiin lähes kokonaan amatöörituotantona. Elokuvan tapahtumapaikkana on kesäinen Alakylä, jossa kylän poliisipäällikkö Pappinen sekä palopäällikkö Miettinen ylläpitävät kylän järjestystä ja rauhaa pahamaineisen Kalle Kuikan rötöksiltä.
