What happens

Tirlittan on Maunu Kurkvaaran ohjaama lastenelokuva vuodelta 1958. Elokuva perustui kirjailija Oiva Paloheimon satukirjaan Tirlittan – orpotyttö ihmisten ihmemaassa ja se kuvattiin kesällä 1958. Paloheimo ei pitänyt kirjansa elokuvasovituksesta, hänen mielestään siinä oli vain kauniita kuvia ja sisältö pelkkää velliä. Elokuvan yleisömenestys oli heikko. Elokuvaa jäi väliinputoajaksi, sitä ei mielletty lastenelokuvaksi eikä myöskään aikuisille tarkoitetuksi elokuvaksi. Elokuvan tekninen laatu oli myös heikko ja elokuvan repliikit jouduttiin äänittämään jälkikäteen. Kurkvaara leikkasi vuonna 1960 elokuvan aineistosta 16 minuutin lyhytelokuvan Lyypekin vuoden 1962 pohjoismaisia elokuvapäiviä varten. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
