Registrado sob o número 37 do catálogo Star Film, o filme é o primeiro de uma série de quatro registros cinematográficos do gênero performático conhecido como artista relâmpago (em francês, dessinateur express) — um desenhista que executava retratos caricaturais de figuras públicas em velocidade extraordinária. O sujeito deste primeiro filme é Adolphe Thiers, estadista e historiador francês, primeiro presidente da Terceira República Francesa, que havia falecido em 1877.
