רכבת ההפתעות היא רצועה יומית לילדים ששודרה בטלוויזיה החינוכית ב-1982 ולאחר מכן שוב בין השנים 1986-1993 ועוד עונה נוספת ב-1997. הרצועה הכילה סדרות אנימציה קצרות מבלגיה, צרפת, בריטניה, שווייץ, שוודיה, אירלנד, גרמניה, רומניה, דנמרק, צ'כוסלובקיה, צ'כיה, קנדה, הולנד, פינלנד, הונגריה, נורווגיה, אוסטריה, ארצות הברית וייתכן שגם ממדינות אחרות. בפתיח התוכנית המקורי, הופיעו דמויות מתוכה, בהן "שאפי שאפו", "פלטיאל", "הכלב הקטן" ועוד. מאוחר יותר שונה הפתיח, נעשה לצבעוני יותר ואף נוסף לו שיר בעוד שהדמויות הוחלפו. את שיר הפתיחה של הפתיח השני כתבה לאה נאור, הלחין עוזי חיטמן וביצע אלי גורנשטיין.
