What happens
Isännät ja isäntien varjot on Pentti Haanpään samannimiseen romaaniin perustuva, alun perin kolmiosaisena minisarjana esitetty televisioelokuva vuodelta 1976. Sen ovat ohjanneet Kari Franck ja elokuvassa näyttelijänäkin esiintyvä Hannu Kahakorpi, joka laati käsikirjoituksen yhdessä Veijo Meren kanssa. Tarina kertoo isännistä, jotka 1930-luvun pulakauden tultua menettävät vaivalla itselleen raivaamat maatilat ja kadottavat samalla elämänsä tarkoituksen. Pääosia näyttelevät Harri Tirkkonen, Paavo Pentikäinen, Eira Soriola, Hannu Kahakorpi ja Vesa Mäkelä. Isännät ja isäntien varjot oli Suomen ja Ruotsin yleisradioyhtiöiden yhteistuotanto. Sen ensiesitys Suomessa tapahtui vuoden 1977 vaihteessa, ensimmäinen jakso esitettiin 30.12.1976 ja kolmas 5.1.1977.
