The 3D catalogue: film cases on wooden shelves, with the cat sitting at the counter next to its greeting.

The catalogue in 3D

The film shelves have a room of their own that you can walk around in. The cat behind the counter is the AI Catbot, and they pick real films from the same catalogue when you tell them what you feel like watching. Nothing is for sale, here or in there. Go in from here and this series is already out on the counter, with more like it waiting on the shelf next to it.

What happens

Winners & Losers is a 1976 New Zealand anthology television series showing a series of locally produced half hour long films. It was created by Roger Donaldson and Ian Mune. Aardvark Films created a television adaptation of Katherine Mansfield's story "The Woman at the Store", airing in March 1975. Due to the success of this play they were able to make six more films under the title of Winners & Losers. Each play was an adaptation of a story from a well known New Zealand writer. The Woman at the Store was included in the series when it was sold at Cannes. 40 years after the production the films were all digitally restored, with work headed by Jon Newell, working with Mune, Donaldson and cinematographer Graeme Cowley.
