தென்றலும் புயலும் 1978 ஆம் ஆண்டில் இலங்கையில் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டு வெளி வந்த தமிழ்த் திரைப்படம் ஆகும். அவ்வாண்டில் திரையிடப்பட்ட 6 ஈழத்து தமிழ்த் திரைப்படங்களில் இதுவுமொன்று. திருகோணமலையைச் சேர்ந்த மருத்துவர் எஸ். ஆர். வேதநாயகம் தான் பலமுறை மேடையேற்றிய மேடை நாடகத்திற்கு, தானே திரைக்கதை, வசனம் எழுதி, திரைப்படமாக தயாரித்தார். பல சிங்களத் திரைப்படங்களிலும், சில ஈழத்துத் தமிழ்த் திரைப்படங்களிலும் பணியாற்றிய அனுபவத்துடன் எம். ஏ. கபூர் ஒளிப்பதிவையும், இயக்கத்தையும், அலிமான் படத் தொகுப்பையும் செய்திருந்தனர்.
