"עודד הנודד" הוא סרט ראינוע הנחשב לסרט העלילתי האמנותי הראשון שהופק במימון פרטי וביצירת גורמים מקומיים לקהל בארץ ישראל המנדטורית. הסרט הופק בשנת 1932 בתקציב דל. בגלל התקציב הנמוך נוצר "עודד הנודד" כסרט אילם, אף על פי שסרטים עם קול כבר כבשו את השוק בתקופתו. מבחינה זו היה הסרט יוצא דופן בזמנו, דבר שהשפיע לרעה על הניסיונות לשווק אותו בחוץ-לארץ. בארץ הוא זכה להצלחה ולביקורות טובות בעיתונות. הייתה לו הצלחה קופתית והוא הוקרן מספר שבועות בפני אולמות מלאים בקולנוע "עדן" בתל אביב, בקולנוע "ציון" בירושלים, וכן בחיפה וביישובים נוספים בארץ. את המערה בסרט צילמו במכתש בגבעתיים, לפני שהפך לאצטדיון כדורגל. חפרו גומחה קטנה בקיר החול ולאחר שאדם היה נכנס פנימה היו עוצרים את המצלמה, מוציאים אותו ומכניסים את הבא בתור, כך נוצרה אשליה של מערה עמוקה. בדצמבר 1992 הונפק בול דואר לכבוד "עודד הנודד", במסגרת הסדרה "שבעים וחמש שנה לסרט העברי".
